Neon Drift Rally: unlearn the brake
Everyone who comes to Neon Drift Rally from other racers makes the same mistake: they brake into corners. In this game, braking kills your boost meter and you lose more time than you save.
Instead, tap the drift button as you enter a turn and steer through it. The car slides, your boost fills, and you come out the other side faster than you went in. It feels wrong for about ten minutes and then it feels amazing.
We spent a while comparing cars and found the lighter chassis drift more easily, which makes them better for tight tracks. The heavier ones are only worth it on the long, open circuits.
Chaining drifts is where the real time goes. If you can link two corners into one continuous slide, your boost stacks and you rocket down the next straight. That's the whole skill ceiling right there.
Practice in ghost mode against your own runs. Seeing exactly where you lost time is the fastest way to improve, and it's oddly relaxing to slowly shave seconds off your best.
