Lantern Hollow: the quiet moments you might miss

Lantern Hollow: the quiet moments you might miss

March 16, 2026 · Elias Novak

Lantern Hollow is easy to rush, and rushing it is a mistake. A lot of its charm lives in small optional scenes that only trigger if you talk to the same characters across different evenings.

We almost missed the whole storyline about the old fisherman because we didn't revisit the docks after dark. Once we did, it turned into our favorite thread in the whole game.

Pay attention to which windows have lanterns lit. That's the game's quiet way of telling you someone's home and has something new to say. It's a lovely little bit of design.

There's no fail state and no timer, so let yourself wander. The best way to play is slowly, one evening at a time, treating it like a place to visit rather than a game to beat.

When you finish, try one more loop before starting a new save. A few scenes only make sense once you know the ending, and they hit differently the second time.
